On Saturday we went up to the Kennecott Copper Mine. I have wanted to go for about two years now but I have put it off because Cameron kept saying he wanted to go with us. On Saturday we happen to be up in Salt Lake so we decided to headed over there. It was pretty interesting and did take a ton of time which is nice with the kids, they get bored fast. They did like the big trucks and they also watched the the movie well. Some facts about the mine are it is the largest copper mine in the world. It spans 2 3/4 miles across and is 3/4 of a mile deep and can be seen from space. It has produced more copper than any other mine in the world with a grand total of 18.1 million tons. They began mining it on June 4, 1903. They not only get copper out of the mine but also some gold and silver. I would add this to my things to do in Utah list. It only cost $5 per car so it is cheap and like I said before it is short in length visiting time. To the left is the kids and me overlooking the mine. It was really windy.
